Alfred DeCredico 1944-2009
My mentor and friend Alfred DeCredico died yesterday. This drawing, Forbidden, a diptych on paper, 1992, is one of his pieces. He was a brilliant teacher and artist. He was a great supporter of my work since I studied painting at RISD. I will miss him greatly...

Anthropology Animation / Illustration
I had the good fortune to work with my longtime friend and creative collaborator, Jeffrey Miller, on a project for Anthropology recently. Using the amazing work of illustrator Heath Robinson as inspiration, I painted still and animated elements for the Anthropology website. Click the links to see the animation in action.

Chalkboard Paint in Colors
On an outing today in Redhook, NY, I came across this cool new product. It's produced locally by an enterprising and creative family and it comes in amazing, fun and modern colors. Check out Hudson Paint. I bought pale gray and a box of yellow chalk (feeling a bit Swedish, I guess). The bright orange was compelling - I think I'll use that in my wood shop...

Chat Eau X
The Chat Eau X is my "nest" project that I produced for The Public Design Trust's benefit auction this coming week, November 5. The "Nest" theme stipulates that the participants create a dwelling for a small animal, in my case, I chose to build a feline relaxation station / human use coffee table. Chat Eau X is made from pine, cedar, mdf board, stainless steel and sheepskin. Initial tests using live cats and hot cups of coffee proved successful.
